Glinos Foundation Pages

An Overview

The idea of establishing the Glinos Foundation belongs to Professor Andre Glinos, son of the famous educator and philosopher Dimitris Glinos. This plan matured when Andre settled in Athens, Greece, in 1978, after a long stay in the U.S.A. where he had excelled as scientist in the field of medical-biological research.

Establishing the Glinos Foundation, Andre Glinos and his wife Loni aimed mainly at the preservation and scientific exploitation, especially by young researchers, of the rich archival and published material of Dimitris Glinos.

In March 1990 the Glinos Foundation was officialy established as a non-profit institution. The traditional residence of D. Glinos family, located in the area of Ano Patisia, 49 Polyla Street, Athens became the home of the Foundation. According to the Foundation statutes, its main purposes are:

  1. The maintenance of Dimitris Glinos archival material and library, so as to be available for scientific research.

  2. The preservation and maintenance of Dimitris Glinos personal objects, as well as those of the other members of his family.

  3. The contribution to the development of the philosophical perspective related to the biological and social foundations of human nature (and bridging the existing gap between them), an idea which prevailed in Dimitris Glinos thinking during the last years of his life, as well as those of his son, Professor Andre Glinos.

The Glinos Foundation is free to visit; anyone who is interested to, must contact the Secretary of the Board of Directors.
